So who of us has been invited to CCF camp? I already know that Harry and I have been, and Daphs told me yesterday that she was in, too.

I wonder what sort of excitement is in store for us this time around.

Harry, you missed an utterly posh gathering at Avery's yesterday. Plenty of drinks, food, music, and games. No deep topics of conversation whatsoever. It was restful, in a way.

Good show, all of you. Fifth years, there really was an enormous difference between last summer and this one - in most cases it was pretty clear that people kept up a fitness regimen during the school year, in addition to paying attention in Defence class and duelling club.

Congratulations to everyone who got special awards this year, too. They did that bit a little differently than they did last year, if I recall correctly.

And after all of that... I, for one, definitely need a holiday.

Quite sorry to hear you'll be leaving the YPL programme, Professor Sinistra, though of course we'll still be seeing you in Astronomy lessons. And perhaps elsewhere, as well.

Today was something, wasn't it? I mean, it was all a bit mad. It was really... just.

I just really have a lot of things to say about what went on today. And I'm so knackered, but I know there's absolutely no way I'll be able to sleep. There's so much I've got to do. And it's all just so, so...

Does anyone know what I mean? Even a little?

I really ought to stop writing. But I can't. I really can't do that right now. I've really got to try to keep on.

Bloody nightshade, what a day.

Since you don't keep your pranks or grudges private, I won't make this private, either:

The next time you decide you want to make Weasley look like a fool or enact some kind of revenge, you'd better not do it in any way that makes me look bad, too - or the team you're working with, for that matter.

Although I think we all know who came out of this one looking the fool.

Good show, Weasley. Especially given the circumstances.

Went for a fly this morning for the first time in some weeks. I must say that while this year has been packed with new and interesting activities, I really do miss quidditch. I especially feel for the 7th years who were looking forward to playing out their final season, only to discover that they'd already played it back in 6th year. Bit rubbish, that. But I suppose it can't be helped.

Seems a few folks are still feeling a bit low that they've not been invited to that Beauxbatons soiree. All I can say to that is: really? It's just a bit of faculty-supervised tea and mingling, not the second coming of the Yule Ball. I can't speak for other Houses, but there's usually more interesting things than that going on in the Slytherin common room on Saturday nights. Dancing in the music alcove, or even just listening to the wireless, along with snap and portkey at the game tables. So if you're feeling left out, just grab a mate and make something happen.

Off to the YPL/CCF Planning meeting in a bit. See the rest of you lot there.

I was surprised to read the Head Girl's announcement about bullying, as I haven't noticed any behaviour that's more out of line from what we usually see at Hogwarts. But apparently others have noticed, which is unfortunate, given that we currently have guests whose impression of Hogwarts matters a great deal to some of us. Now that such a bright glaring light has been shined on the matter, we can only hope that it will soon die down.

If there are any first-year or visiting students who want to test out their spellcasting skills in an approved environment, they ought to consider attending duelling club on the second and fourth Tuesday of every month. Also, the NEWT students have duelling club on the first and third Tuesday, and they don't usually mind having an audience. Some of them have developed some dead impressive wand-work, too, which means it can be quite a show some nights.

So yeah, haven't seen this so-called bullying, but I have seen what Krum's been enduring. Last night I was on my way show him and some of the other Durmstrang students our quidditch trophies, when Marjoram Montague and Effie Stevens literally leapt out of the Armour Gallery while waving Bulgarian pennants and shouting the Bulgarian fight song. They had also charmed their hair to be white blond for some reason...to look like Veela? That's all I can figure, though they were just a bit far off on the resemblance.

It was possibly the most hideous spectacle I have ever witnessed. We all had our wands out in an instant - that's just what you do when someone jumps out from behind a suit of armour - and their faces went utterly white. And then when they saw Krum's expression - well, they figured out right quick that not a single one of us was amused. Stevens burst into tears and went wailing in the other direction, and Montague muttered an apology before scurrying off the same way. And then I had to apologise to Krum for their antics.

If people would stop being idiots being so ridiculous in the first place, we'd all be better off. Hopefully there won't be any incidents like that this weekend.

And speaking of - Harry and I will probably help with the set up after supper. Anyone else from CCF interesting in joining?

Now that was an intense day. When they portkeyed us to New London I actually though for a split-second that they might not give us a challenge today, but I knew that couldn't be right and, sure enough, they finally had me and Harry head up our own teams. (Harry and I had sort of counted on that happening some time before CCF was over, so we were ready for it.)

From what I've gathered it sounds like both teams had the same challenges but in different orders. Our team started at Trafalgar Square and really, the hardest part was picking only two people to do each challenge, without knowing what the next challenge would be. It looks like both teams did really well, though - Harry, I found out the official time and you lot only arrived at the arch a little over three minutes after we did.

So well done all around, really. I think all who were involved accomplished a great deal and have a lot to be proud of.

That said, I can't wait to get home tonight and sleep in a familiar bed. Might not get out of it for the next few days, even.

I told Blaise I was going to rest before lunch was over, but since you're still out there I'll just write this now, before we get too busy to discuss it. Plus I don't want any of those CCF officials to overhear us.

Don't you think it's a bit funny that they haven't chosen either of us to be team leaders yet? And since pretty much everyone always picks us both together (guess they're afraid we'll be hacked if we get split up, or something), I'd bet a load of galleons that the plan is to end the whole training session by having us square off against each other. What do you reckon?
alt_draco: (stunningly slytherin)
Blaise: Pucey, Montague and the others agreed to meet us at the Ouroboros course at nine. Any of the rest of you lads in CCF are welcome to join, if you can make it. We'll be running the course from 9:30-12:00, steam and massage from 12:00-1:00, then a luncheon in the club restaurant just after. If we make it back to Kensington by 3:00 that should leave us plenty of time to rest and clean up for the evening's events.

Everyone else, the festivities will start at 5:00. Make sure you bring your invitation, because you can't get in without it. The gardens will be closed off the public so we'll have the run of the place. Oh, and bring a bathing costume if you want to swim in the fountains, and a broom if you fancy a fly.

Dear Father,

As part of the process of applying for the YPL combined cadet force programme, I write to you to express my interest in a number of professional fields which you yourself have experience in, be it limited or expansive. These fields include professional quidditch, music production and promotion, MLE consultation and advising, foreign relations, and others. I am certain that as I grow older, the profession(s) I am most suited to will be revealed to me by the proper parties; for now I only hope to best prepare myself for all those that I am interested in, and may one day find myself called to.

All best,
Draco
