Well I suppose what the Professors Carrow did was only practical, really, but I can see why it might be a little embarrassing for some people. I mean, some halfbloods live with really good and important pureblood guardians, and I wonder what their guardians will think. I just think if we're going to be segregad segregated now then they should have done it all the time so it wasn't so confusing to some people.

Anyway, Teddy and I were talking at lunch about

Oh for Circe's sake....DENNIS? WHERE ARE YOU?

Why are there SCONES all over my bed? There must be about fifty! I told you I don't want any scones with tea, just like I told you last week and the week before. And yet you keep bringing them and can EAT fifty scones, really?

They had better be gone when I get back from supper or I don't know what I'll do with you. I suppose you think you're being helpful but really you're being very disobedient. I thought you knew better than to behave this way, but I guess I was wrong. Maybe I haven't been firm enough with you. Well, that's all going to change!

What?

I take it this is not the first time you've had this discussion with him?

Is there a particular reason your servant is obsessed with scones?

How often do you hex him, dearest?

It doesn't pay to indulge your servants overmuch, my son.

Your Aunt Dorea had a house elf who would insist on bringing her raspberry tisane despite an allergy to raspberries and repeated reminders. She cleaned her cupboards out of the stuff, but the elf still brought her tisane she couldn't drink. She objected to disciplining the creature (heaven knows why) until finally he had to be put down.

Listen to your mother, Draco. Humiliation can only affect someone with a sense of honour. Obedient as I'm sure your Dennis attempts to be, you make the mistake of thinking him capable of pride.

I'm very sorry, Master Draco.

Would Master Draco like me to say I am sorry again?
I am sorry. I don't know why I brought you scones. I may have thought you wanted them, but you didn't know it. A good mudblood should antisapate his Masters needs, Master Draco.

Dennis is very very sorry, Master Draco! Dennis will take care of it straight away!

Draco, maybe you should have him clean your whole dormroom super thoroughly? I mean I know the house elves do but it might help him remember not to bring you scones again if he has to scrub under your bed and everyone else's, wash your bed covers and so on. Tell him you don't want even a single crumb left anywhere in your room.

I mean he's your mudblood of course and it's up to you! It's just a thought.

This has to be Dennis's magic again. I was thinking about how he might have done it and although you can't make food out of thin air, you CAN make more of it if you have just a little. So he could be starting with a crumb and turning it into all those scones even though he doesn't mean to.

Hermione, even if Draco says no to my idea, you might tell Dennis that if he cleans like crazy to get rid of crumbs, that might make it stop. Maybe. I didn't realise how many times it had happened. They might be coming up from the kitchens, I'm not sure.

You could have him bring them to Astronomy tonight. Or just before, anyway - you know, a snack.

But yeah, fifty's a bit exsess excessive. Does he think you can't get enough or something? Why's he nicking scones from the kitchen, of all things?

Oh, well, in that case, yeah. Probably not, thanks all the same.

I haven't heard about them going mental. I didn't think they had all that much to think about in the first place. But if you think he's damaged, maybe Professor Brutka ought to look at him? Or even Madam Pomfrey?

Maybe you ought to tell him to tell the elves in the kitchens that they shouldn't give him scones for you, no matter if he comes down and asks for them or not.

I don't think it's necessary at all. I mean, really, if no-one can get in and no-one can get out, and no-one is sick here, why do we need to bother?

And if we can't get sick anyways, I just don't see why it matters. Unless we could pass it along somehow without knowing it, but even if that was possible, we're quarantined.

The quarantine is what helps protect you from anything coming in to the school, but it appears thus far that halfbloods are more vulnerable to the disease at any rate.

As for segregating the lessons, it is the prerogative of any professor to divide the class as he or she sees fit.

You're right, it's just sitting apart from her during two classes. Which isn't really all that much of an inconvenience. Not right now.

It was unpleasant, is all. And it might happen in the other classes too, and I'm still not seeing why it has to happen in the first place.

And I haven't forgotten what we talked over and everything. But that doesn't mean I didn't get a bit frustrated when we had to switch chairs and everything. Even though it's just a little thing.

Besides, we aren't supposed to let silly gossip and rumours make us afraid.
