Just a reminder to all the quidditchers I got in touch with: we're meeting at 09:00 at Malfoy Manor tomorrow morning for our first Quidditch Club meeting. Bring your gear and your brooms - after Harry goes through the agenda we'll have a scrimmage and then, just after 13:00, we'll break for a light luncheon.
If anyone can make it to New London on Friday afternoon, we'll be having our first meeting of the Junior Society for the Improvement of New London. It'll be a picnic lunch on Hampstead Heath, and then we'll walk around the Heath and pick up rubbish and mend loose fence posts. Let Harry know if you can make it, and which sandwich you would prefer: cheese and cress, cold chicken, or potted shrimps.
On Saturday afternoon the Culinary Appreciation Club will be meeting to try out a new Burmese restaurant that's just opened near Hyde Park. Let Harry know if you're interested - he'll need to know by Thursday to make the reservation. Also, the restaurant owner wanted to be sure that everyone is well aware that Burmese food is on the spicy side and that no, it's not "just like curry."
On Sunday afternoon the Avid Art-Goers are catching a matinee performance of Hex and Dodge! at the Lyceum. The theatre manager can only reserve eight seats, so let Harry known straight away if you would like to attend andDaphs wil he will be sure to add you to the list.
Let's see... I know there will be some other events going on next week, too, but I'll be on the YPL trip and won't be able to attend. But yeah, the Investigators of Ghostly Phenomenon might hold a seance at 50 Berkeley Street, and the History Club will be checking out the new Protectorate Collection (if not next week then likely the week after). Just let Harry know what you're interested in and he'll take care of the rest.

Private Message to Draco Malfoy
Date: 2012-06-27 12:10 am (UTC)So, I guess this is what you were talking about earlier. About doing stuff this summer. I guess I didn't think it'd be this...
involved?
Re: Private Message to Draco Malfoy
Date: 2012-06-27 12:28 am (UTC)But if you want to do some of it yourself, you can.
Either way, at least it gives us something to do, yeah?
Re: Private Message to Draco Malfoy
Date: 2012-06-27 12:32 am (UTC)I don't mind doing some stuff.
Re: Private Message to Draco Malfoy
Date: 2012-06-27 12:37 am (UTC)Re: Private Message to Draco Malfoy
Date: 2012-06-27 12:44 am (UTC)The agenda for the quidditchers thing doesn't sound like it'd be hard. And if you'll be gone for the history stuff and the seance, I can sort out who wants to go and send them information about it or something.
Re: Private Message to Draco Malfoy
Date: 2012-06-27 12:52 am (UTC)Padma and Pansy should be able to help on the History Club agenda, and for the seance, talk to Hydra. She doesn't know if she'll actually be able to attend, because her Mother's so unpredictable, but she was the one who suggested it. Rather odd thing for her to suggest, but then, that's Hydra for you.
Re: Private Message to Draco Malfoy
Date: 2012-06-27 01:06 am (UTC)And if I plan it with her, that'd probably make Mrs Lestrange more likely to let her go.
Re: Private Message to Draco Malfoy
Date: 2012-06-27 01:19 am (UTC)Because Diggory ought to come. He's a good sort. And Weasley would be okay too, I guess. Ron, I mean.
That skirmish Pansy pulled together really was brilliant.
Re: Private Message to Draco Malfoy
Date: 2012-06-27 01:58 am (UTC)Weasley isn't on the Gryffindor team, so I didn't put him on the list, sorry. I suppose if you want him next time you can invite him yourself. I just figured it would be best if it were the house players to start with, since we're probably all so out of shape after a year of no regular quidditch.
Re: Private Message to Draco Malfoy
Date: 2012-06-27 02:01 am (UTC)and we really are out of shape. I mean, if they throw a giant spider or a sphinx onto the pitch, I'd know what to do, but it's been awhile since I looked for a snitch.
Re: Private Message to Draco Malfoy
Date: 2012-06-27 02:05 am (UTC)But you know... you could probably teach us a lot, after all the training and experience you went through for the tasks.
You know, if you ever wanted to.
Re: Private Message to Draco Malfoy
Date: 2012-06-27 02:07 am (UTC)And yeah, I could.
The Learn What Harry Learned About Defence Club or something.
Re: Private Message to Draco Malfoy
Date: 2012-06-27 02:10 am (UTC)A different perspective, hey?
Re: Private Message to Draco Malfoy
Date: 2012-06-27 02:18 am (UTC)What lit the fire on the end of your broom, anyways?
Not like I mind or anything, it's just a lot to think about.
Re: Private Message to Draco Malfoy
Date: 2012-06-27 02:30 am (UTC)I mean, let's just say I'm looking out for you, yeah? That's what mates do.
Re: Private Message to Draco Malfoy
Date: 2012-06-27 02:36 am (UTC)Thanks.
Private Message to Draco
Date: 2012-06-27 12:11 am (UTC)You'll be happy to know Fifi's excited to trot out her lemon mousse for your friends tomorrow. Is there anything else you particularly wanted that's not finished yet?
Re: Private Message to Draco
Date: 2012-06-27 12:21 am (UTC)Just so long as Fifi knows we'll be absolutely famished, and to not skimp on anything, it should all go brilliantly, I think.
Re: Private Message to Draco
Date: 2012-06-27 12:29 am (UTC)No wonder she was in tears over the probability of using the last of the lemon curd.
And I suppose the same goes for the hampers for the Heath? Are you sure you'd not prefer salmon to the shrimps? Or would you prefer to ask 'Harry' and then let me know?
Re: Private Message to Draco
Date: 2012-06-27 12:36 am (UTC)I, for one, prefer shrimps, but I suppose a few salmon wouldn't go amiss. Hydra is probably the only one who will want cheese and cress. The spread doesn't need to be epic-scale, though - there's food stalls nearby if Vince hasn't had his fill.
Re: Private Message to Draco
Date: 2012-06-27 12:57 am (UTC)Perhaps you've not yet learned all there is to know about being a gracious host.
Oh: Biscuits or cakes? For Friday, I mean. Here you shall have both, of course.
By the way, dear, have you any plans for yourself this summer? Apart from CCF, that is. I'm not sure whether to bother planning a holiday this August if you're going to be as busy as this the whole of the time.
Re: Private Message to Draco
Date: 2012-06-27 02:45 am (UTC)And alright, fair point about the hosting. I think biscuits for the picnic, they travel better than cakes.
I might need a holiday after this summer, though. Especially if it was just family, and Harry too, of course.

Date: 2012-06-27 12:16 am (UTC)I think this is certainly a way to get people active during the summer months, and there's so many things for different tastes, I'd imagine that quite a few people can find at least something they'd like to do. And I'd so much rather explore New London with friends than sit at home.
Oh, and if no-one's volunteered yet, I'd like to be secretary of the Culinary Appreciation Club, Harry. I can come up with little rating cards for the restaurants, and make a scrapbook of the menus, you know, for archival purposes. I can also help out with reservations and things if you'd like.

Date: 2012-06-27 12:17 am (UTC)Sure, Pans.
That'd be great.

Date: 2012-06-27 12:24 am (UTC)He seems overwhelmed.
Re: Private message to Pansy
Date: 2012-06-27 12:26 am (UTC)You really are brilliant, you know. And a really good friend.
And you know I'll help with everything I can.
Re: Private message to Pansy
Date: 2012-06-27 12:30 am (UTC)But even that... we'll, he spends too much time with her as it is.
This is better.
Re: Private message to Pansy
Date: 2012-06-27 12:37 am (UTC)Would Granger be staying behind, you think? Or would it be easier on Harry if he knew she wasn't back at Buckingham? One less thing to worry about. Unless bringing her along to help with things would be a worry, but she's been much better in public since her misstep back in winter.
Re: Private message to Pansy
Date: 2012-06-27 12:39 am (UTC)I guess I'll leave it to him.
Re: Private message to Pansy
Date: 2012-06-27 12:41 am (UTC)Re: Private message to Pansy
Date: 2012-06-27 12:47 am (UTC)Do you think Harry could ever be a leader? You know, the confident, take-charge sort of person that everyone seems to expect him to be?
Re: Private message to Pansy
Date: 2012-06-27 01:03 am (UTC)During the YPL group thing we had, he was really good at that. And he also was a good leader during the Tasks. I mean, during the Second Task, he pretty much decided how things were going to go. And everybody else was more experienced and older, but they still did what he told them to, and it wasn't just because of who his father was either. Even though it didn't work out quite the way he had in mind.
And the thing is, Draco, you're such a good leader, because you have that confidence and everything, that maybe it's easier for him to just sit back and let you do things sometimes.
I think if he ever were to decide to step up more at school, there'd be people there who would listen to what he had to say. But maybe he hasn't had anything he's wanted to step up for yet?
I'm not sure how that's something that can be fixed, but having him take responsibilities of little things where the stakes aren't quite so high is a good start, I think. So maybe he'll get a bit more confident.
Re: Private message to Pansy
Date: 2012-06-27 02:03 am (UTC)It's true he doesn't mind me taking charge. If he did mind, I'm not sure our friendship would have worked out so well, back when we were younger.
But I did tell him that he can be as involved as he wants to be with all of this club nonsense. He said "Okay, I don't mind doing some stuff." Ha, so good with words, that one.
Re: Private message to Pansy
Date: 2012-06-27 02:15 am (UTC)You've said before that he's got a hard time of it sometimes, dealing with the fact that he is important, and that people look to him. Maybe it's his way of being in control? By deciding not to do things?
I don't know. Anyways, maybe if he sees becoming a leader as something good, or something with a purpose, something that helps other people, that might be better? Maybe? We'll have to see.

Date: 2012-06-27 12:39 am (UTC)Oh, and Harry, don't forget the Cryptomancy Club voted you vice-president, and meetings will start next Monday. I figure it'll be an introduction to Cryptomancy and how it's different from regular cryptography. We can incorporate more topics as we come to them.

Date: 2012-06-27 12:42 am (UTC)We should also go to the Museum of Curiosities and see all the weird, manky old muggle stuff. I know Seamus already saw it but I still haven't. Sounds like the sort of place that would warrant a repeat visit, anyway.
no subject
Date: 2012-06-27 01:43 am (UTC)You know who I think would be great to have along on that? Finch-Fletchley. Because he lived around them for so long, you know? So I bet he'd know loads about how daft they were and how dirty they are and all.

Date: 2012-06-27 12:44 am (UTC)How many more of theseRight. Thanks for the reminder.
I Solemnly Swear That I Am Up To No Good
Date: 2012-06-27 01:45 am (UTC)Hermione, I've talked to Draco, and he's said that it'd be up to Harry whether you came along or not. I think he was worried about Harry's treating you as he ought in public, but you can sort out what you'd prefer and think would be best.
It really is something you all could join in on, if you write ahead, of course, so maybe this could be a bit like what I was talking about earlier with Justin, you know, a chance to get to know people a bit better.

Date: 2012-06-27 02:36 am (UTC)Thanks for organising everything. Remy and I have decided we'd quite like to come along, at least to the Heath, the theatre and the Protectorate Collection. And likely the Antiquities as well, what?
I say, jolly kind of you.

Date: 2012-06-27 04:56 am (UTC)Harry, you're honorary chair, since it's your celebration, but that's really an advisory position. We'd like you to come along for meetings, but we don't expect you to hang bunting or solicit corporate donations unless you want to do.
I'm Coordinator. Anyone who wants to show their proper enthusiasm for the Protector and for Our Lord's realm, let me know, or come along to the first meeting Tuesday at half-eleven by the New Arch in Green Park. We'll have luncheon after. (Executive committee: meet by the kiosk aside the Arch at half-ten. That all right with you, Harry?)
And, Harry. Put me down for shrimps on Friday, for Saturday's Culinary expedition (let's hope New London Burmese merits appreciation), and I've told Daphs I'm in for the theatre. I'll certainly be along for the Protector's Collection, but to be honest, I think I'll give the curiosities a pass. I hear Sarah Yaxley's opening a new show, though--same subject, really, as that Muggle collection, but a more nuanced way of viewing the matter. And less chance of catching something.
Oh, and Patil. Where are you holding the Cryptomancy meetings? And what time?

Date: 2012-06-27 05:03 am (UTC)When's the Protector's Collection trip? I might go along to that, too, I guess. Depends
on.And I could do something for the Freedom Day, so, Zabini can put me down for that.
I was thinking we should have a distance flying club for people who like that sort of thing. Could do some agility drills, too. No one would have to be invited, it'd just be if you wanted to come along. I'll let you know when we're going to do the first one, yeah?
