Hey - I was catching up on my journal and noticed that Pansy wrote to both you and my Father last night.

You're making plans for my birthday, aren't you?

So, what's it going to be then? And look, no offense, but Pansy's usually good at this sort of thing, so just let her take lead, yeah?

Oh, but if you could dissuade her from inviting Longbottom, I'd appreciate it. I suppose Weasley would be alright, but Longbottom never contributes anything, just sits there like that blinking toad of his. It's entirely unnerving.

Yeah, we're planning. More like she's planning and then telling me what I can do to help.

She's already coming up with lists and everything, and he isn't on them so far.

Part of it is supposed to be a surprise, and I'm not even sure if we can pull it off, but if we can, you'll have a good time of it, no mistake.

She really likes you, you know.

I mean, of course she does. But it must be nice.

What about that message to my Father - is he going along with everything or trying to make things difficult? I'm pretty sure he still doesn't like the idea of the two of us dating. Or else he's still cross about the earrings. Or maybe it's both of those things.

Yeah, it is nice. We have a good time together. I do, at least. And I think she does, too, only... I don't know, sometimes I get the feeling she's tense about something. Almost as if she has something she wants to say to me.

Could be that it's around this time of year that Regulus Black died. Bloody nightshade, I can't for the life of me fathom what she and Mother saw in him. He seemed mental to me. Didn't he seem mental to you? Don't tell either of them I said that, though.

I think it's a girl thing. Like girls sort of obsess over stuff sometimes. Even when it's not good for them.

He's going along, actually. He did say something about how you both liked to give one another expensive presents. Like he was sort of joking. So there's that.

Why wouldn't he like you two dating, you think?

Well Pansy definitely obsesses over things sometimes - she even gave herself that ulcer a while back. I just wonder what it could be... I think if it were something serious she'd tell me, though, just like I tell her everything.

Don't worry, that doesn't mean I told her about Milland. I figure that's your business, and nothing to do with me. Though I still say it's weird. Now there's two grown men who are obsessed with you because of your parents. He'd just better be able to teach you, is what I'm saying. Or else what's the point?

I've no clue why he doesn't like us dating. I held off on telling him because I thought he and Mother might be excited and start planning our wedding way before we're ready, or something nutty like that, but he's not like that at all. He hasn't said much about it either way, but still, he doesn't seem pleased.

That's sort of weird. If he didn't like it, he'd probably say, wouldn't he? And he likes Pansy.

Maybe that's why she's being a bit off. Because she knows why he's not happy about it? I don't know. I do know she likes you tonnes, though.

And she seems really happy.

Like happier than she's been in a really long time.

Maybe we could go together or something. To meet with Milland. And talk. I think it'd be ace if you learned , and I think you'd be really good at it too. And we could practise together.

And yeah, he's a little intense, and sort of weird, but he listens to you like you're a real person. Like Raz does.

Well, he dated loads of birds before he married Mother, so he probably worried I'm missing out on all that, or something.

Hmm, I hadn't thought of that - of her feeling strange because of Father. Maybe I'll bring it up with her.

And hey - you know, I bet after you thump Diggory in the final task that Chang will finally see the light and ask you to take her out for a butterbeer this summer. Bet you fifty galleons.

I don't know... It'd be snitch to learn, but I don't trust him. He didn't make a vow about me, after all. And speaking of, isn't Raz going to wonder when you don't go to him for Occlumency lessons like you'd asked him about?

Well, like I told you, he got sort of weird about it, like he wanted me to learn, but didn't know if it'd be okay for him to teach me. And he hasn't brought it up since. I haven't either.

I don't even know if he's a legilimens, but if he isn't one, there'd only be so much he could teach me. I guess if he did bring it up again, I'd probably just show him what I'd learnt so far, and he'd just assume I picked it up naturally, like Hydra did. Maybe. I hope. Unless he could see me learning from Milland, that is. But if he were a proper legilimens, I think he'd be a lot less worried about people finding out that he'd taught me, wouldn't he?

I don't know. I'd rather he not get into trouble, and just sort of find out I know it without his having to do anything.

And it would be snitch to learn.

I think it's okay to not trust him. Milland I mean. You've got a pretty big secret over him, don't you? So you've got some leverage. And I'd know if he did anything to you or something, and he'd know that'd make me angry and I'd stop going to him. So because we're good friends and he wants to stay on my good side, I think it'd work out. As long as we're careful.

And I think it might be best to learn from someone no-one knows about, you know? So no-one knows you know how to do it?

There's no way Raz is a legilimens. If he was, we would've heard about it by now. So yeah, you're right, he can't do as much. He probably wishes he could, though.

You could always take lessons from Auntie Bellatrix.

No, scratch that. I see why you prefer Milland.

And I suppose we both have the upper hand, when you put it that way. If he does something to me it would kind of like be hurting you, too, so it might put his vow in jeopardy.

I might be willing to meet with him, at least.

Maybe you're right about the butterbeer, though. I'm glad I told them to go to the Yule ball, because Diggory's been really helpful during the cup at least. And it would've been awful to take someone who didn't want to go with me.

Right. And you know, I don't think it's that she didn't want to go with you, it's more that she wanted to go with Diggory more, because they'd already grown close. It's still good that you asked because she knows you fancy her now, and if things change with Diggory, she'll remember that.
