We were thinking of having a bit of a lad's night tonight, just to celebrate the end of exams and get in some good male bonding before taking to the dance floor tomorrow. Seems most of the girls will be together making adjustments to their dress robes and experimenting with hair charms, so why not?

Gamp and Vaisey are in, which means refreshmen butterbeer. I have the latest issue of Quidditch Weekley Deluxe, which has full-colour photographs from Sunday's Appleby v. Wimbourne match (what a cob-up that was - epic use of porskoff ploy for Wimbourne, though). Might bring along some other reading material, too. Cards a must.

Meet up at the usual place, 'round eight or so. Anyone interested can show - even you, Smith.

Well, there's a few of us who might drop in at some point. We were planning to get supper in our common room and then come round once it's not all formal and all.

Fleet heard there's to be a huge selection for pudding.

I heard the same, that there's going to be a giant table groaning with it.

Also, when the orchestra heads off and the band starts playing everyone will be dancing and watching in a big group, I reckon. And the band itself is supposed to be something of a surprise - might not want to miss that.

Stop confusing Smith, Daphs. He's clearly committed himself to the corner where he'll be stood all night, gobbing up pastry and tarts with crumbs dripping down his front.

Besides, I'm not sure Bole would let you save a dance for anyone, given the way he was holding onto you like a prize broomstick down at Hogsmeade.

Let's just say that I accept it. After all, I was the one who asked him to the Ball, not the other way 'round, so it seems unreasonable to demand that he fancy me when he and Jo only broke things off just after Hallowe'en.

It's also not a little bit flattering that he thinks I'm worthy of making another girl jealous, especially an older one.

And I have a laugh with him, really, and I like how absolutely massive he is. That's good enough for me.
