An explanation

Since people have asked me about my interpretation of the events multiple times, I'm going to put this here and hope that it puts the matter to rest.

I don't know what, exactly, Crabbe, Goyle and Bulstrode were doing during the demonstration, only that they were arguing with each other about something. I know it was them because I remember looking over at them specifically, which is why I didn't see the hippogriff rearing back.

I didn't see Ron Weasley get in front of me (like I said, I was looking at my housemates). The only thing I registered next was a lot of screaming and flailing. Well, it might've been only one person screaming, but it's hard to say as it was right in my ear. And then Weasley was laying there all bloody and Professor Brutka was calming the creature and taking it away.

Whether by accident or with intent, the sudden appearance of Weasley's body in front of mine does seem to have prevented injury to my own person. I know that my Father and Mother are grateful for its sudden appearance, as am I.

I have no comment on the question of whether or not Weasley is, in the after math, trying to get more attention than is his due. I'm not sure it really matters, since the attention he is garnering isn't of the most positive nature. With that said, I think it time we all move on to other matters.

I'm very disappointed with how he's handled this, and he isn't being gracious at all.

I think the best thing you can do is to not respond to him at all, because I can't see how on earth you could respond to that in a decent way, and it's ridiculous. By not saying a thing, you'll come off better in the long run.

I've held off talking directly to him about it til now, because he gets all touchy whenever you have come up before, and I know he wouldn't listen to half of what I say because he'll think I'm just automatically biased, and he'll probably get shirty with me for even saying anything, but I will be telling him exactly how displeased I am that he's gone about it this way, and not kept the rest of our House in check better.

No, I don't think it's possible to summon a whole person - certainly not until well beyond NEWT level.

I only meant that I don't really know why Weasley decided to step in front of the hippogriff. The only fact I know for sure is that he was suddenly there.

So he really did step in front of you, then? That's what Parvati said but she madee it sounds a little more deliberate on Weasley's part, which I think gives him too much credit for being either clever or heroic. Still, it's a good job he didn't let you or Harry get injured, no matter how it happened.

'Course, if there'd been time to think, who knows what I'd've done the other day. I mean, it's not like I was all over trying to save Malfoy from getting hurt. It just sort of happened.

I mean, not that I'd try to get anyone hurt, only it's just really unfair it had to be someone like Malfoy so now they all get to make a meal of it and turn it around like it's such a surprise I'd ever do anything decent.

I'd say if there's one thing this proves, it's that you'll dive in front of a hippogriff to save ANYONE.

Which proves beyond a shadow of doubt (if any existed!) that you were Sorted into the right house. If you were any more of a Gryffindor we'd have to call you Godric and you'd be best mates with Salazar (you know they were supposed to have been mates, right? which is why it's kind of funny that people from our Houses aren't supposed to get on.)

Thanks for saying that, Sally-Anne. I've been telling him that ever since it happened, and so have the twins and Lee and even Percy. But I think it means even more, maybe, coming from another House.

Deliberate? Well, I do doubt it was an accident. No one would want to get in the way of an angry hippogriff, would they? It wasn't very clever, but I reckon it was heroic, in a way. I don't know, it just sort of happened, that's all.
