Private message to Lucius and Narcissa Malfoy
Father - I want to thank you (and the other governors) for making last night such a brilliant and memorable event. Tintagel was epic and Pansy was thrilled. Everyone's still talking about it and not liable to stop anytime soon. I said my thanks to Mr Tenebridge last night but I've got a little something to send him for Christmas, as well.
Mother - You looked beautiful as always, and were as gracious as ever.
I'm going to miss the Manor this Christmas. It sounds like the party will really be something else, and of course spending time with you both is what I really look forward to. I've not stayed behind for hols since year two, when I threw that tantrum because you made me stay at the castle to keep from catching the plague. Ha, what a brat. Don't worry, I know now that you were only doing it out of concern.
Firechat on Christmas?
Hope the party goes spectacularly.
Love,
Draco

Mother is outdoing herself this year, no mistake. But I do believe the results will be worth it. Though I admit that I took full advantage of the knowledge that there would be fewer young people this year than in others.
As for that second year, yes, it was so unfortunate. I can't recall having to spend so long apart before or since and we missed you terribly, as well.
Tell me, dear. Hydra and her beau: Does that strike you as anything inappropriate? He seemed properly attentive, to be sure but there were a few dances where--well. You are all young and I'm sure that youthful vigour can overcome even the most polite of boys. Your Uncle Raz seemed to think it was nothing but then I know he doesn't see Hydra as much as you.

And now that you've told me that about the party, I'm more sorry than ever that I'll miss it.
Finch-Fletchley has seriously old world manners, and, well, is a bit on the soft side, so I can't really imagine him doing anything inappropriate. It's not as if he doesn't know who Hydra's Mother is, after all. I can make an effort to be more observant if it's something you're worried about, though.

As for mischief as it pertains to Mr Finch-Fletchley, I believe you're correct. Merlin knows your Uncle Rod certainly would not have given his consent without a similar assessment. I'm sure they were just having a good time in the dancing. Don't trouble.
But, now, you and Miss Parkinson? Is there anything you'd like to tell Mother about that? Or are you merely showing her your own old world manners, then?

Father doesn't couAlright, I won't trouble then.
No...what would I want to tell you?
I mean, no, there's nothing to say. You're my Mother, I can't talk about those things with you! It would be... no.

And I don't want you to think you oughtn't keep an eye on Hydra. You know she's a delicate creature, much to your Auntie Bella's dismay. She might well be glad of her cousin's fraternal protection, eventually.
Oh, dear. Am I embarrassing you, son? Mother's work is complete, then.

I'll do what I can, then, but I'm not going to trail her around the castle or anything. That'd just be too weird.
And no, I'm not embarrassed. I'm just not up to discussing it at the moment.

As your mother said, we're both quite struck by the man you are becoming, and quickly at that. It has been our great privilege to encourage you in a number of directions as you determine how you'll contribute as a fully-fledged wizard in your own right. I look forward to growing to know you as one man to another, as well as father to son.
(Don't mind your mother overmuch, either! You'll recall she enjoys teasing you about anything masculine. Trying to gauge just how much you've grown, no doubt!)

OhI don't knoI look forward to that too, Father.Yes, I can tell that she's enjoying herself. Since it's Christmas I suppose I'll indulge it.
