In brief: the bill for my Valentine's gift to you came, and he demanded to know who I was splurging on. I refused to say, mostly because he was making a giant fuss about it and acting as if I'd just bought someone an engagement ring. And also because if I DID say, he'd have some kind of big opinion on it that I'd have to listen to, ad nauseum.

I also didn't tell him because I was a little surprised that he didn't already know. Which means that you haven't told him, either, right? So I thought it might be something we should discuss together, first.
